Collection: Beyond Tea

A Note from the Founder

Growing up, I always believed that most of us want to do good. What separates intention from action, however, is accountability. I found that while the desire to give back was present, it often remained a one off gesture rather than something sustained.

When I began building Istora, I realised that a for profit brand tied meaningfully to a cause has the potential to be both accountable and enduring. It allows giving to be built into the structure itself. Women’s empowerment is a cause that I feel deeply connected to. I cannot always explain it logically, but it just felt natural to begin here.

As part of Istora’s commitment to giving back, we partner with thoughtfully chosen organisations working in this space and direct 1% of Istora’s revenue towards supporting their work. We feature our partners on our packaging so that their stories and efforts are visible. Thus allowing those who wish to learn more, support, or get involved to do so.

Working with partner organisations ensures that our commitment is transparent, accountable, and grounded in real, measurable work rather than unsubstantiated claims.

Our Current Partner

Currently, we are partnering with Ek Tara, an NGO in Kolkata, India dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized girls and women through access to quality education and skill-building opportunities.

Through this partnership, 1% of Istora’s revenue is directed towards providing mid-day meals at Ek Tara, supporting a space where girls and women are encouraged to learn, grow and thrive.

A mentor once shared this with me, and I would like to leave it here:

If we are fortunate enough to build something meaningful, we must also be mindful of what it enables beyond ourselves.

Warmly,
Vedika
